Howard Broughton has been developing
imaging systems for the past 15 years and has held various
engineering and management positions in many different
industries. Howard
graduated with a BS in Imaging Science from Rochester Institute
of Technology, Rochester NY and with a Master of Business
Administration from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland,
OH. His specialty is product development which includes
hardware and software integration and image analysis.
During his tenure at NASA Glenn Research
Center he managed the image analysis and imaging support
personnel on high
profile ($1 million) projects and was recognized within
the aeronautical community as a leader and innovator. He
also developed a
machine
vision system to acquire high-speed digital images of rotating
gear teeth enabling scientists to understand causes of
metal
alloy failure. The system allows researchers to measure
the progression of gear failure without forcing a shut-down
of the test rig.
A patent was issued for the system (Patent number 5,978,500).
He was also selected by Trek Diagnostic Systems Inc. to
manage the development
of a new medical diagnostic product line acquired
from a bankrupt Israeli company. In this position he was
responsible for the current and future product development
by hiring
and
managing a global staff.
To bring added value to the imaging community,
Howard has been an active member in various professional
societies, such
as The Society of Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T),
the Society of Optical Engineers (SPIE), and the Society
of Photogrametry. He has
published several papers
on imaging science concepts and system development, and
has been a speaker at many conferences around the U.S.
Howard served his country in the U.S. Army at
various assignments around the world. During his service
he was recognized as
a superior leader and distinguished himself by being promoted
ahead of his
peers. He was awarded many medals, commendations, and
certificates for meritorious service, both for his
commitment to his fellow
soldiers and the successful accomplishment of the mission.
As a Rotarian, Howard has served for two years as Co-chair
of the Youth
Service Committee of his local club where he helped to
dispense
grants, scholarships, and contest awards. Currently he
Chairs the Youth Service Committee and was recently
elected to serve on the board
of directors for a three year term. Howard is committed to serving his customers with integrity
and loyalty. He has gone above the call-of-duty to support
each project to ensure the customer is satisfied with
the results. His commitment
to excellence is only surpassed by his desire to innovate
and bring tangible value to each customer. |
